Although the name might suggest that this is a religious book, it really is not. The author does use religious writings and examples, at times, to make his points, however, this is really a book about one of the great curses of our modern world, we are too busy. It seems that we don't have time for many of the very important things in life. Unfortunately, what gets left out is often time for ourselves or our families. Muller reminds us that in the 1950's we "...agonized over the perplexing dilemma looming ahead: What were we going to do with all our leisure time?"

As it turns out, we never had to deal with having too much time. Even those who have retired, have told me they have too much on their plate. How do we get to an easier pace so we can enjoy this life we have? This is the question Wayne Muller explores in Sabbath. Read this book and do the "practices" and, just possibly, you will find the way to restore balance to your life.
